‘Peace, Love & Hoppiness’ | Hapeville brewery rings in the new year by helping to promote fellow Atlanta beermaker
Beer Girl, Growlers & Bottleshop adds two Khonso Brewing beers to their tap for early New Year’s celebration.
Hapeville, GA — Over the course of the past few months, something has been brewing on the Southside.
As portentous as that may sound, have no fear, Beer Girl is here.
What’s even better, is that she’s brought some friends along with ‘her.’
Those friends are the three founders of Khonso Brewing Company; Kevin Downing, Corby Hannah, and William Teasley.
On the evening of December 29th, just in time to bid adieu to 2021 (don’t let the door hit on the way out) and aloha to 2022, Alexis Ryan and Erik Lewis, better known as, the co-owner / operators of Beer Girl, Growlers & Bottleshop invited the public to enjoy the ‘soft launch’ of their latest two brews.
“We've just always had a good relationship (with Khonso). We've done anniversary parties for them when they first got their beer in the market," Lewis tells Vox Pop ATL.
Khonso’s newest brews, named Oak Bluffs, a hazy double IPA & Joyland Cream Ale, a cream ale that goes down easy were not only debuted but brewed right here in Tri-Cities at nearby Arches Brewery.
Khonso Brewing Company’s COO, Michael Teasley had this to share with Vox Pop ATL.
“Beer is one of those things that we have a historic connection to. We want to make a connection to the African continent with brewing, which is typically viewed as a more European creation, when in fact it goes back thousands and thousands of years."
The ‘soft launch’ was timely in more ways than one as it also coincided with Khonso’s 3rd anniversary as brewers.
The official celebration of which was held just this past weekend on January 22nd also at Beer Girl, Growlers & Bottleshop in downtown Hapeville.
Khonso’s latest brews, Oak Bluffs Hazy DIPA & Joyland Cream Ale were also added permanently to the menu at Beer Girl.
