‘With Open Arms’ | Seasoned restaurateurs re-open beloved local eatery
New owners overwhelmed by community response after re-opening the Manchester Arms Pub in College Park
COLLEGE PARK, Ga. - For nearly the past two months, popular College Park restaurant and watering hole, The Manchester Arms Pub has re-opened in College Park, much to the delight of the local residents and patrons.
Converted from a historic 1930’s home and styled in the fashion of an authentic British pub by its original owners, the Manchester Arms has called the modest hamlet of College Park, its home for over 15-years.
A mainstay in the community throughout its tenure in the Tri-Cities, the ownership of the Manchester Arms has changed hands several times since opening its doors to the public during the Spring of 2006.
“College Park is a hidden gem,” Warren emphatically tells Vox Pop ATL from the patio of the Manchester Arms Pub.
“We had no idea what a fantastic community this was. No idea.”
The ‘we’ in Warren’s statement refers to her business partner and spouse, Will Evans. The two are no strangers to the competitive yet fickle world of restauranteur-ship. The two have owned and operated The Warren City Club, located in Virginia Highlands for over 17 years.
When Vox Pop ATL asked what the response has been from the locals in regards to alterations to the menu, Evans happily chimed in.
“We each had our ideas of what we wanted to ‘maybe’ change on the menu,” Evans begins to say with a wry smirk, “but we kept encountering people along the way, that would ask about various things on the menu.”
One of those ’things’ refers to an overwhelmingly favorite entree, the eponymous Famous Manchester Arms Smoked Pork Chop.
The Manchester Arms Pub is located at 1705 Virginia Avenue in College Park, about 3 miles from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. The world-renowned airport also serves as a revenue stream for the local eatery. Perennial clientele from all across the globe has made the modest restaurant a ‘local favorite’ the world over.
Both owners, Kristi, and Will shared with Vox Pop ATL that just within the past 7 weeks that response and support from the College Park community has been ‘absolutely amazing,’ and that local should keep their eyes peeled for some exciting changes on the horizon in 2021.
According to their website, the Manchester Arms Pub will be open for lunch and dinner, Monday through Friday from 11 am – 11 pm. Although, currently it will be closed weekends until further notice.
